About

My name is Montana Parsons. I manage the portfolio I call Oxford House Family Capital, which is exactly what I’m naming this blog. I’m a passionate investor and writer, so I felt this could be the perfect space to share my research and findings. I’ve realized regardless of your career, wealth isn’t built from your 9-5. We have to make strategic investments in order to not only set ourselves up, but our families.

What’s the story behind the Oxford House Family Capital name?

My family is from Oxford, Mississippi. It’s more often than not the place I feel is home, at least in my mind. I did a lot of growing up in Oxford, so often times I’m thinking back on the many fond memories that were made there.

This is where the first two words “Oxford” and “House” come from. I still visit my grandparents home as much as possible, I feel some of my more concrete thoughts or ideas have come from me sitting in their home.

The final portion of the portfolio/blogs name stems from what investing is all about, at least to me: growing capital for my family. Successful families from an investing standpoint, tend to think long-term. They think of the next generation. They tend to be patient. They tend to use less debt. You can see all this in the behavior of publicly traded firms controlled by families. These firms also tend to outperform their peers. This is our goal.

Finally the logo was inspired again by what Oxford reminds me of. It’s a more modern play on what Tolkien maybe would have drawn up as the door into a hobbit hole.

Thanks for visiting the site. I hope you enjoy the words, and I hope you feel free to message me with thoughts, questions, and conversations!
